Check out this Bust Half I just bought...ex.Eliasberg

Couldn't resist buying this Bust Half. This is the coin I asked the buyer about lowering his BIN price on,which he did.It is going to fit nicely into my set.

Very pretty, and I'm sure pretty expensive too. The picture makes it look like it has been cleaned and then allowed to retone- is that your assessment with the coin in hand?

I don't believe he has the coin in hand yet.
Very nice hair detail! The Eliasberg pedigree is one of the few I would pay a premium for, as long as the coin is all there for the grade.

    Nice coin image
The seller lists it as a pop 1/0 coin. Is that because ngc lists pedigree's seperate?
Several 1825 half dollars graded by ngc 65 have sold in the past at Heritage.

Myqqy: Bustman is correct, I don't have the coin in hand yet. I think its the fact that the pics have been lightened to show detail that may be throwing off its true look. I don't think its been cleaned.

Bustman: Sure you don't want to sell that icon coin?

Placid: Yes, Pop 1/0 for the variety O-115 which is a scarce variety.NGC show a couple of 66's for other more common varities.

Russ: Thanks, I am glad the seller was willing reduce his BIN. It pays to ask.

    Thanks,
    Randy

    Nice coin -

The description from the 1997 Eliasberg catalog as follows:

1825 O-115. Rarity-3. MS-63. Most of the stars are flat, however, all other design elements are sharply defined. Light golden brown with iridescent reddish orange and light blue. Lustrous surfaces with minor hairlines and a few other insignificant abrasions not unusual for the grade. Attractive overall, and from a combined numerical and aesthetic viewpoint this is certainly one of the finer examples of the die combination.

Dynamite! I’m so happy Eliasberg wasn’t a dipper. White Bust material makes me feel dirty!

Congrats on a great coin find,
    Dave
