What an Easter present!
Kyle had his surgery on Friday. The two aneurisms on each side of his brain were drained and he survived the procedure. Saturday, he wiggled his toes and opened his eyes for 5 minutes to see the Jeter signed ball strategically set up at the very end of his bed. Then, he fell back into the coma. There is a glimmer of hope so let's keep saying little prayers when we think to do so.
Cindy, her mom and Elena took down the addresses of all the wonderful things everyone around the country sent to their home; a Jeter signed baseball, magazines with Jeter gracing the cover, a photo of Mickey Mantle and beautiful graded cards, one up to a "9" of Jeter as well as an encased ball and stand from the "2000" Yankees vs Mets Subway Series signed by Mike Piazza and Derek Jeter. Many letters and other paraphanalia were received and the family is so grateful that people like these actually exist in this world.
On behalf of Kyle's entire family, we thank each and every one of you who contributed and even those who wanted to but simply were not able.
Hope everyone had a nice holiday and take care.

With news like that, it just got better! Thanx,
Mike
<< <i>Don't underestimate the power of Baseball. Hopefully there will be better days ahead for Kyle, and I'm happy that I participated...jay >>
Jay,I'm on your side.Too Bad I can't say it like you with the few words, or the Jayisms, or the Jaygleese.
Then to read the message forwarded to me regarding the family and freinds appreciating what this board did
My God,Thank you all!
Only thing I look forward to (espically after all your effort which hopefully counts for something with the Man upstairs) is that he can really enjoy the nice things sent with the same hope I have for Kyle.
Getting the ball was my intention but it turned into something more because of everyone here.Plus it was hard not
to throw out why this piece of memorabilia was needed and it was too hard to not speak of...
I was not looking for it to go that way but can understand as I would have been the same way everyone else was here.
However, thanks to everyone - it took 24 hours to look for, about another 24 (or less) to deliver, and everyone helped out in ways beyond belief. I am thankful truly forever in your debt.
Another good note for those who decided to go beyond the ball by making donations sent to me here is my idea:
Ultimately (In a perfect world) I hope to hand Kyle a "Gift" Certificate to the Fella Jack's store for whatever he wants. That is the best thing I can think of to do with what you have sent which was left over.I don't want to believe it to be any other way and we can send Kyle on a Shopping Spree. You Parents know what I mean
Happy Easter and
God(Or whatever you believe in) Bless

Bless you , Bless & keep Kyle, and Bless the good folk here,

For all the negativity these days that seems to prevail, this is what I do and want to believe in..........that is, the good in and of baseball!!
Amen.
BOTR
The wife and I enjoyed a frozen pizza from Trader Joe's for Easter, and washed it down with a couple glasses of black cherry Kool-aid. Needless to say, the alleged resurrection of Jesus doesn't rank very high on our respective lists of miracles in Western history.
But Kyle's surgery does. Thanks for keeping us updated. If there's anything else we can do for him, I'm sure you'll let us know.
Thanks for bringing the board up to speed, and thanks for lettting us all contribute.
Guy
that there's still hope.
