My 1855 $3

I spent the day photographing coins. Geez, it's tricky to get the lighting right! Anyway, this is my first effort. This one is going in for grading. What do you (y'all) think?

  • Okay, question: how do you get the pic to appear inside the post?

upload it to a server you have access to (your ISP probably) or a free pic site then use the 4th icon from the left right above the spot where you type your forum message and insert the URL to the picture.

Copy the URL of the image. Then, when posting your message, click on the "framed picture" icon (fourth from the left). Paste the URL in the pop up window and then hit OK.

Cool coin. I gotta get one of them. Looks like you need more light.

I was trying, but I kept losing all the detail in the reflection. I guess practice makes perfect.

    Is it a pattern? image
If its real it seems to have some wear but thats about all I can tell from the picture.

Definitely more light. Try not to have the light shine directly on the coin but rather and angles. At 45 degree angles you get better lighting. Also try more than one light source at different positions. It's a good first attempt, though.
  • Hmm, one more try before the workweek. Not as good as youse guys, but it's better, right?image
    Thanks.

    AU50 probably.
  • I'll say au-55 from the pictures as long as its not cleaned or anything.

Much better, but I still can't tell if it's real. Keep trying!
