Completed 2 goals last week and have likely reached my final (registry) resting place.

Purchased the last coin to my IHC basic MS set last week, moving up to #4 all time, #3 current. Started in 1995 with the goal of putting the IHC set together with coins MS65R or better. Unless something happens to the top dogs, that is my final resting place. It doesn't bother me in any way since my goals haven't changed over the years. The registry just made it more fun to see where one stands. With the capital required these days, I'll keep looking for upgrades but won't be a serious threat to the top 2.
It's amazing to look at #1, the Epstein collection. Using the WAG method of what I would pay for a properly graded coin, it would cost about $900,000 to replicate that set. If my memory is correct, it could have been purchased intact in 1995 for $300,000, including several fine FE cents NOT included in the 900K total above. It was sold piecemeal instead.
My #1 IHC variety set was completed last week as well but I have one coin in an older holder that is not recognized by the current pop. reports. So, that set will be forever stuck as incomplete. Many thanks to a friend for helping/letting me be #1 in that series

"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. (Putin 1/17) Gone but not forgotten. IGWT, Speedy, Bear, BigE, HokieFore, John Burns, Russ, TahoeDale, Dahlonega, Astrorat, Stewart Blay, Oldhoopster, Broadstruck, Ricko, Big Moose.

BTW it shouldn't be hard to get your older holder coin recognized by the Registry should it?

Still have a couple goals related to small cents - finishing the FE cents (proof and MS) and the 1856-1858 patterns.
Congratulations Tim. You have some great coins. Send your 1906 in for an upgrade. It is ludicrous that PCGS has that coin as a 64.
I will add my congrats to the rest. That is in no way a bad place to be.I;ve stayed behind Stewart nad Doug in the Lincoln Proofs,I know.

The fact that is took you 9 years makes it all the more special.
Only if red copper makes me do it! It was the subject of an earlier thread, as you may know. When it comes to an expensive coin, buyers like me like the old green holders since it's some assurance of color stability. Or, were you referring to swapping to NGC..........
Now, when you tire of the small cents, I am ready to open up a new world for you in Early Copper--imagine, copper cents the size of half dollars and as thick as silver dollars, from the first few years of the Philadelphia Mint!
I've had the privilege of seeing some of Lakesammman's Indian cents in person, and they are a sight to behold! The 1886 Type 2 is simply astonishing. TomT.

Wish I'd had the insight to get into them when you did. Yours are a sight to behold as are your small cent proofs. The 1884 66R from you will always be a favorite of mine, but sure would like to have back that NGC 67 pattern I sold you!
Really pleased for you. That's quite an accomplishment.
