jefferson guys, QUESTION

does someone have FS information on this?

This is first I have heard of this variety. I have tons of 41's and couldnt find one in the bunch.

Also what does stanton have to say on the rarity of the 42 D/D?

The small and large S mintmark varieties of 1941 were created when the Mint changed the size of the mintmark punch to a larger S late in the year, with the large S variety being the scarce one of the two. Fivaz and Stanton observe it is "very difficult to find" and list prices at $10 in XF, $65 in MS-63 and $125 in MS-65. I have cherried about 15 of the large S from searches of bulk circulated Jeffs and have cherried one BU example. They are very hard to find, it seems, in mint state. Large S mintmarks also exist for the 1941 quarter and dime. I have one circulated example of the dime. Hope this helps.

On the 1942-D/D, F&S list a URS 11, 501 to 1,000 known, and observe it is the most difficult of the top 10 Jeff varieties to find in BU.

This variety exists with fs - I have one in an ANACS 65/5 step holder.
