US Mint ...Silver Proofs and 2004 Nickels

I guess we learn something new everyday.
I recently ordered a bunch of 2003 Silver Proof Sets from the mint.
Every one of these sets had BAD scuffing and marks all over the
plactic holders. I called them and sent them back for exchange.
As soon as they got them back they immediately charged me again
for the same coins. Now I have paid for them twice and still do not
have any coins.
I called again and they said they had to charge me again to start the
process of sending me my replacement coins. ........could anyone except
the government get away with such a practice? I don't think so.
They told me they also put in an order to refund this money. That was
over a week ago and I still do not have the refund. The charge was
immediate and the refund......who knows when I will get it.
A couple of points here......
1. If you send coins back for exchange you had better have money in
your account to cover the charge for the replacement coins.
2. These sets were not damaged during shipment....they had to have
been coins someone else had sent back.....then they sell them to
someone else.
3. Order early so that you do not get someone elses returns.
Another note...... I recently got 2-500 coin bags of the new 2004 nickels
from the mint. There was not one coin in the 1000 that graded over MS65
and very few of those. There were nice white coins with great luster but I
could not beleive how marked up they were.
4. The US Mint's prices are going up and their quality and service is going
DOWN.

how many times does this lesson have to be learned? If you waited to long by them from a dealer who will let you see them first. I just bought the 2004 from the mint THE DAY THEY WERE RELEASED.

I do NOT appreciate your tone.
I am NOT an idiot and only need to be screwed once to
learn my lesson. Your suggestion to the contary "how many times
does this lesson need to be learned" was uncalled for.
My post was made in an effort to inform others so that
they will be aware of what will probably happen in similar
circumstances.
<< <i>NEVER BUY proof sets after they have been onsale for longer than 2 weeks from the mint...YOU WILL ALWAYS GET SOMEONES RETURNS!
how many times does this lesson have to be learned? >>
This is just a opinion and I'll agree, it could have been worded better...
I'll contradict the above and assure you Cats I have gotten quality sets long after they were released....
And I'll also add when it comes to proofs, I know what quality is...

BTW the double billing has happened to me a time or two and all it took was time to fix it.
