Nice Frank. Are they in an album?

Frank, this is my best example of woodgrain toning. I found this one in an old cigar box that I bought at an estate sale.image

Monkapop - these are the ones in slabs - kind of my baseline for comparison set

DHeath - nice watery fields on that washington! image

Ah! a baseline. Great way to go. I had to do that with some washingtons to figure out what to buy, and send in for grades. I didnt feel that I had enough experience grading them.

With toned coins, especially new ones that come into the market, it's always good to have an idea of what they can look like and what they don't look like so you don't get burned down the road.

Frank, here are a few proofs from one of my spare albums. They have white reverses, and these two are the only ones in the album toning.

Don - you don't have a thing for 71S halves do you? image

I've seen many a half in dansco albums do this. Unfortunately they are usually mishandled with fingerprints and or hairlines. For this reason I tend to stay away from proof halves from albums - unless of course I see a killer toned one. Haven't yet.
