Including pics in your set registry

Couple of questions. I tried to add a single picture first, to make sure that it works. It does not immediately appear. Is there a delay in logging in pictures the same as logging in updates to your set? Thanks in advance. Also, does anyone see anything wrong with mentioning other people in your description? Example: people who helped you acquire the card. Thanks

Chris

Oh yeah, for the record, I truly enjoy when people take the time to add things to their sets. I think it was mrc? Unbelievably detailed!! Hats off.

I'm pretty sure you have to wait until your set is reviewed before the camera icons appear next to your cards, even if you're simply adding images and not adding or upgrading cards. You can, though, click on the "List/Edit Image Files" link to see if you uploaded the images correctly. Assuming you did, that link should display the list of all your image files and you'll be able to see how your pics look before the camera icons appear. Hope that makes sense.

  • When I try to look at the pic in the edit images, the pic is huge!! Will it look like that in the registry?

    Chris,

First, I personally thank you for adding scans to your sets. image I don't usually bother looking at sets that don't have scans - the numbers don't really impress me all that much .... money can buy anything, including a high set rating, but the true collector who takes pride in his efforts ... that's the set I'd like to look at!

Your scans will not appear in your set until the set is reviewed (usually 1-2 days).

There is absolutely nothing wrong with mentioning others in your comments on your registered sets - I do it regularly.

Check out my Willie Stargell Master Set for example.

Thanks again for the scans. Post a link to your set so that all can view it.

    JEB.

JEB.... I totally agree! Thanks for the great post.

  • Once you upload an image, you can see what it will look like on the Registry right away by going to "List/Edit Image Files " and clicking on the file name. If it is too large, you can should manually shrink the image with photo editing software, then upload again. It may take a little trial-and-error until you get the image the size you want. Also, it does take PSA a day or two to link your image with the card in the Registry.

  • Thanks for this thread! The photos on my 34 Goudey set were just huge. Went back and shrunk then to about 200 x 350 and they look much better!

    Thanks again!

How does one go about shrinking the images? The program that comes with my scanner does not seen to have this feature. I can go form 100dpi to 75 dpi and that seems to make the scans smaller, but the images then look awful.
  • Thanks for all the help guys. Check out my pics when you're bored. More work to be done, but a good start. Dale Murphy may not be the highest on most people's list, but he always was on mine. Gotta love the diversity available through cards. Players, sports, sets, brands, you name it. Thanks again.

    Koby,

You might try a program called Easy Thumbnails. It's freeware, downloadable from www.fookes.com. I use it to generate the thumbnails for my gallery site, but you can reduce pictures to any size you want.

Again, thanks for the effort, Chris. This is what it's all about. image

Please, if you are a true collector, make the extra effort! It really is worthwhile.

  • I'm currently in the 60 all-time registry since I retired my set. I attached images to almost half the set. Key cards and favorite players. I felt that it really added to the set. It was fairly time consuming but I know I enjoy looking at the images of other set builders from various years.

    Mike,

I've checked your set out and its a beauty. I enjoy looking at the scans that you've put out there!

I'm curious though, what do you mean when you say you've "retired" your set? Is that something PSA does for you officially, or does it mean you've just stopped working on the set?

    Thanks,
    Tom
