If you're a Accented Hair Kennedy nut like me, this is big news. If you think they are a bunch of hairy-heads, maybe less so.
Up until a month ago the pop on this coin was 4 with one higher. Then a dealer in the midwest bought a few proofs sets and submitted the best ones for grading. On one submission, he nailed THREE Proof 68 Ultra Cameo Accented Hair Kennedys. Some here are aware that I purchased one a few weeks ago. A tip from a friend in Kent, WA had me call the dealer and get the other two. All three were purchased below any sheet you want to check.
The three are enjoying their stay in Philadelphia today, but one is being adopted by a gentleman on the west coast.
In very simple terms, I find it hard to believe that I will ever be able to duplicate the numismatic fun and excitement that I have experienced over the last few weeks.
I sent Russ the pictures and received a Compucheap seal of approval. He has agreed to post the pictures since I need instuctions to operate a toaster.
One last word for MadMarty: BITE ME!

And, here is the baby that was born first:
Out of over 1700 that NGC has graded, a scant 25 examples have been granted the Ultra Cameo designation in any grade. That's just how tough this coin is in UCAM.
BTW, Joe proved that David Hall was dead wrong when he wrote in his article that you "can't beat a dealer".

<< <i>Why did they go to NGC? >>
Because that's where the dealer from whom Joe bought them submitted the coins. Looking at this dealer's auctions, it appears that he does most of his submitting to NGC.

But since this gospel, Strategy: Buy PCGS graded coins exclusively, wasn't followed, "...you are running the risk of getting less than you paid for. This is a financial risk you do not need to take. "

<< <i>Now Russ, your professional opinion... would any make it into a 68DCAM holder at PCGS? >>
I'm not a professional, but I'll give you my amateur opinion. Current PCGS environment, 50/50 shot.

Well, my little plan backfired. I sent one to Russ hoping the Post Office would lose it. I insured it for $9600, using the same price guide that the PCI and coinmover guys use. Was gonna share the $9600 with everyone here. Only one problem, it got there.

Congrats to Philly Joe (espesically for proving Hall wrong) and to your accented self.
Anything ever come out of that newbie's thread, who had the list of coins. Did he turn out to be an obvious scammer? Did I miss anything fun?
