The head just doesn't seem to fit the body

Here's a nice example of this well-known and popular card:
1972 Topps Steve Garvey
While never owning a copy, I've seen pictures of the card in passing over the years. Nothing ever looked odd about it until today. I was just staring at this card, considering a bid, when it suddenly struck me that the position of Garvey's head on his body just doesn't seem right. It almost looks like they took somebody else's body and cropped in Garvey's head. I'm not accusing Topps of this, but there is just something odd about this.
Am I the only one who thinks this is a wierd looking card?

maybe it's just an optical illusion because of the angle but it sure looks "photoshopped"

Always looking for 1957 Topps BB in PSA 9!
There's been some pretty creative air brushing out there over the years.
Very cheesey but Nostalgic nonethless.

I've seen a few early 70s hockey issues which had obvious head transplants.
