Despite my feelings on the whole ACG ordeal with K6AZ and the other unnamed parties, I sincerely hope that no rifts ocurr between forum members as a result of anything that transpires. Perhaps we can learn something from this all if we pay attention, about ourselves, about each other and about the hobby.

Thanks.

Hopefully everything turns out well. Being sued is not fun (I've been there twice in my short career already, luckily all suits were dropped).

    Keets,

I figure one of these days you and I will go a round or two on this forum. I am glad I have not raised your ire yet because I think I would have taken it worng. Now that I think I understand you a little better, I know how to take your comments. You strike me as the kind of guy who may intially come off as a smart butt know it all but in reality that is just your style. You seem somewhat willing to listen, compromise a little and understand other points of view, not just your own. While I think you methods are a little crass at times, they are honest. I think you kinda scared me off when I first came to this forum but you do have a somewhat twisted sense of humor that I like....usually.

This is a difficult issue. I don't know anything about K6AZ's situation with ACG, but I do know that the numismatic market is plagued with fraud and price-gouging. I think everyone of us chalks up a certain amount of fraud to "the way it is in the world". At other times, however, the fraud becomes eggregious and unbearable, and we are compelled to speak up against it. Where any controversy may exist is in the fact that we all draw slightly (and sometimes radically) different lines as to what is acceptable and what is not.

JMHO, and not to be misconstrued as "siding" with anybody.

    We ARE watching you.

  • Shouldnt be any arguing between anyone but the Hagers and anyone that disagrees with their 'grading system'.....PCGS and NGC have said it all. Uh oh....does this mean I will be hauled in now????

NGC was way tougher on that group than PCGS.

The sad realities about lawsuits and court resolution are that the results are seldom about right and wrong, but who wins and who loses; and seldom are the two reconciled.

  • speechless.........almost. Wow, those are some good examples. I thought I got screwed when I purchased a couple 2 point overgrades, when I began. Can't we all just get along....lol. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. That is why we live in the US. Land of the free (as much as the government allows anyway, seen your FBI file lately?), home of the brave (sometimes too brave). Hope the gov doesn't take offense to that and haul me in......lmao.

From what I can see, there is really only 1 side to this story (maybe for the 1st time in the history of the world? image ), despite Keets' somewhat antagonistic comments from yesterday. K6AZ is fighting a good fight!

    Ultimately:

1: ACG has lost a ton of money from people suggesting, from experience, that coins in ACG slabs are not of a quality shown by grading services such as NGC and PCGS.

2: ACG is seeking compensation for losses caused by poor business practices on their part (but blaming it on those who gave counsel to beginner and amateur collectors starting to buy slabbed coins and who did appropriate research by finding this forum.)

3: By suing Top-Names in the world of Numismatics, ACG has nailed the last nail in their own coffin by turning on the hand that fed them (the collectors/dealers).

4: ACG has figured out that it cannot dig itself out of the hole it has dug, and made deeper by the radiating force of forums such as this, and has such been backed into a corner and now must fight like an angry bulldog to cover it's losses.

Fight for the Integrity of Coin Collecting. Keep up the good fight defendents. I am with you all the way.

I know someone from ACG is reading this. ................ Good.

If you are from ACG and have a different view of this, post it. Maybe it will be more valuable to get more folks on your side than to just read posts like this and log them for your pointless case.

  • Anaconda Rare Coins had a 1907 Liberty nickel in an ACG holder (230084) at MS67 which was a VF at best. One of the worst I have seen... wonder if that coin is still around.

They are. They just masquerade here as collectors. They don't fool those of us who know better. image
  • I actually bought an ACG coin, once. (Please forgive me since I was new) I took it to an ANA dealer who said it was at least two grades lower.

The person who I bought it from actually refunded my money with no hassles. He had a return policy and stated that he really did not blame me, but he was just trying to get rid of it and that he even didn't think the grade was right, quote, end quote.

It is really nice to see some dealers are actually honest, or at least willing to respond positively to such a criticism without any affrontation.
    Honesty is the Best Policy!
  • I bought an ACG coin once also, and crossed it to PCGS at the same grade. I know that is the exception to the rule, but it happened!!...Ken
