Saw Miller's dollar textbook on ebay

I am NOT the seller, but I own the book and it is a good one for anyone interested in Morgan dollars. I don't think I'd BIN, but the opening seems reasonable, although my guess is it would sell for something in between.

It is not mine either, but it is a nice book. I had a signed one and sold it for $50.

Can you recommend a good, inexpensive VAM guide? Aside from asking the board, that is. image

I own and have read four books on Morgan/Peace Dollars. Wayne Miller's book is clearly the most informative of these. Although the information is over 20 years old, I would not sell my (unsigned) copy even for $50-$60, even though most of my Morgan and Peace Dollars would not fetch that price today.

Picked mine up from Wayne. Of course, I also have a "Wayne Miller Coin Shop" bowling shirt (was my dad's). Nothing compares to hearing the stories of him growing up while he worked for my grandfather.

Certainly a great guy, love going into his shop, even if it is always a mess.

Can you recommend a good, inexpensive VAM guide?

There are several, all are great.

    1) The VAM Book from Leroy Van Allen and George Mallis, runs around $50 - 60
Comprehensive and a wonderful reference guide. All years. Last published in 1997, you can get updates since from Leroy Van Allen.

    2) The Top 100 Morgan Varieties by Michael Fey, runs about $30. On CD as well, cheaper.
Web site for Top 100 books

    3) The Hot 50 Book (no overlap) by Jeff Oxman, runs about $30 as well. Good luck finding one, it's out of print. Appears sometimes on
    eBay.

    4) "Fun with 1921" Denver Morgan Dollars by Rob Joyce. Specific to 1921-D coins. $29.95. See
Rob Joyce's web site to purchase.

    5) 8 Tail Feather attribution Guide - specific to 1878 8TF Morgans.

    6) 1879 s Rev ’78 Varieties by David Wang - specific to 1879-s coins, loaded with information. He's a board member here,
    contact directly.

  • That did not last long, glad I bought mine 18 years ago. Much cheaper.
