Those were fun non-sports stuff - my friends were big Mad Magazine fans and this went along with it.
For anyone who likes this kind of stuff, the ToppsVault Inc. has auctions ongoing for original proofs, artworks etc. on all sorts of stuff to include sports.

  • I have a three ring binder full of Garbage Pail Kids. OK, so maybe I am a little strange.image
  • I remember them. I had a large stack of them I just sold last year. Band-Ache was the high dollar one. I found them in a shoebox I had saved. Great memories.

I remember buying a uncut sheet a couple of years ago. I think it was from 1979. The seller had auctions for up to 25 sheets in a single auctions. It don't see the sheets, at least in that quantity on ebay anymore. Guess someone founda bunch and moved them quickly.

I"m looking forward to these new Wacky Packages. The funny thing is, is that I'm in my 20s and I collected wacky packages, but never got garbage pail kids cards. I think mine came from big bags full of non sports cards packs that were meant for holloween or something.

A lot of the stuff we Gen Xers collected and played with are still hot items. Its not just baseball ball cards or garbage pail kinds, but also Tranformers, Star Wars, and GI Joe.

This new Generation Y will see garbage pail kids, as Topps is going to produce them again. Not only this, but the Transformers from the 1980's are being re-molded and sold as re-issues, The Star Wars Movie had been re-done and so have the toys (with new mold, but of the same old characters), and GI Joe has brought back a toy line with the same old characters using different molds.

Maybe this new generation can relate to us after all.

How come there are no Wacky Sets on the Non_Sports registry?

    Loves me some shiny!

Garbage Pail kids are out and have been for months at my Walmart. I bought a box for a Christmas present.

  • Do I remember them? Hell ya! I LOVED those Wacky Packages!! I use to steal $$ from my older brothers to buy packs at the local 7-11 store. They were almost addictive to me.

I didn't know that there was specific ones these days that are worth more than the next one? That's cool though.

Trust me, I will be buying these new ones just to reminisce a bit. Opening some packs of these will bring back some great memories. I'll have to stop over at my brother's house on the way to the store to get some money.... Ha Ha.

As for the Transformers - I looked them up on Ebay about a year ago and I could not believe what those things were selling for, even loose! Just the accessories alone were selling for decent coin! I saw a few missiles for Optimus Prime or somebody like that going for $20+ on Ebay. I had a ton of these.

Wish I still had them puppies now because they would all "transform" into some serious cash for me. I'll take the $$$ over a robotic bug anyday.

I was HUGE into comic books also. That was my passion until the cards came along.

Sometimes I still wish I was Spiderman. What???

7 MVP awards, the single season HR record, career walks record, single season walks record, 700HR/500SB, and two batting titles near 40 years old. How can one argue that those aren't stats of the greatest to ever play the game??? All this and there is still more to come!!!! Bonds:2005 NL MVP. Or are you going to doubt him again?

I still have some of my wacky pack cards, but I really have a liking of those odd rod and odder-odd rod cards. I showed those to my 8 year old son the other day and he really lit up.

I remember these as well, and just found a nice stash of them from my youth last summer (sold them on Ebay, and did very well - people really like these!). I am suprised that Topps can get away with making these without getting in trouble for copyright infringement in these sue-everyone happy times.

I am no lawyer but there a precedent that has to do with 'parody' - that if you are funnin on something like a song or character - that you can't sue for infringement of trade name, likeness, etc.
