off topic but, " does anyone know a good no pop ups download?

any help would be appreciated.
i ain't often right
but I've never been wrong
it seldom turns out the way
it does in the song
once in a while
you get shown the light
in the strangest of places
if you look at it right

  • I used ad aware from lavasoft. It's free and it works pretty well. I don't know much about computers but my repair tech recommended it to me.

I've tried several and highly recommend the google toolbar, which in addition to providing a great search tool, blocks popups. I've been using it for 3 weeks and none have slipped through. It's a freebie too. You can download it here:

    Two good choices:

    1) Use Opera as your web browser. Opera has a no pop-ups setting that works beautifully. Only drawback is that some things on the web don't work yet with Opera (like ESPN's Full Motion). For everyday surfing, though, it works great. www.opera.com

    2) Download Pop-Up Stopper from Panicware. They've got a free version that I use all the time. www.panicware.com

I'll second the nomination for the Google toolbar. In addition to the features mentioned above, it has an autofill button that I use all the time. When a form comes up that asks for my name, address, etc., the autofill button fills them all in with one click. It saves minutes at a time for a lame typist like me.

Netscape's 7.1 browser is 100% pop-up proof! And it is totally compatible with anything on the web. I absolutely LOVE it!
  • I use Norton Interent Security. Great package, and it includes a popup blocker.
