Home World & Ancient Coins Forum

Please reduce my forum dues while I go Yeti for a few weeks.

If I hit any hotels with internet connections in the rooms, I may be able to drop in once or twice, and I'll certainly look in while at the grandkids' houses, but in general I'll be gone for the rest of this month, starting at oh-dark thirty PDT tomorrow (Thursday).image

The Beautiful Bride and I are going to Maryland and Virginia where all 3-1/2 grandkids live. Then it will be off to the Big Easy for a couple of days enjoying Bourbon Street jazz and probably some cajun cooking, before heading home with a stop in Albuquerque to see my sister. I don't expect to have much chance to visit coin shops, as the Beautiful Bride has them very high on her "boring" list; but there's always a chance of finding something in an antique shop, so the loupe and want list will be at hand.

Have fun, find and display some great coins image and stay away from the liteside wars while I'm doing the ~5,900 mile road trip that Mapquest estimates.image

3-1/2 grandkids? Where does the other half live? image

Have fun Roy, and don't let the BB intimidate you; go to as many coin shops as you can, this is a man's world afterall! image

I'm sure there will be free moments to sneak away and find shiny round stuff you want-you might come back with a gem-good hunting and see you soon!image

Have fun Roy, there's a coin shop in the New Orleans French Quarter on Royal Street (runs parallel to Burbon street). (Look but don't buy, the place is expensive.)

Maybe you can arrange a little 'his-n-her shopping' -- she can spend a few hours in the stores she likes, and you can spend time in the ones you like. Or, and this works particularly well with children that are small enough for strollers, offer to take a grandchild for some quality grandpa time and go to a couple stores on the way to a park. No one would ever have to know.

Have a safe and fun trip!
