My first and only lost item in the mail, what a surprise

Last year I shipped a couple of coins to Maryland, first class insured for $260. The package never made it. To make a long story short, the guy they were going to had some medical problems and it took a while to hook up with him. I finally discovered that they never did arrive. So I filed a claim, complete with a copy of his canceled check, and to my surprise I received a check from the PO today for the entire amount. They gave me no trouble as to the value of the coins. I'm a happy camper, and so is the guy who bought the coins. image

And likely the person who "intercepted" the package...

I know that's what happened. The coins were in one of my trademark "bulletproof" boxes. Somebody lifted it between Richmond and Baltimore. According to the PO's internal tracking, it never even made it to the DC distribution center.

Didn't you see it over on RCC? I posted a link to it there the other day.

No, I was in Wash DC from Thurs until yesterday, without a computer. Too many emails, postings, etc. to try to catch up on, so just set the flag as all read for Usenet, and started fresh last night.
