Any info on counterfeit 1901 Morgans?

I'm considering buying a raw 1901 Morgan (from a reputable seller with a return policy). How common are counterfeit 1901 Morgans? Is there anything in particular to look for that would give it away?

What you really have to watch for with this date is a removed O mintmark. Make sure you have a good loupe and thoroughly check out the area below the wreath where a mintmark would be present.

That appears to be either an XF45 or AU50. I'm not sure about the color of the coin, that is either from the lighting, or the coin has questionable color.

It definitely isn't as high a grade as advertised, but it's the color that made me stay away.

No number, just "high grade uncirculated" for $500. The seller deals mostly in estate jewelry.

OK, that coin is not worth anywhere near $500 as you know, judging from the fact you said you are steering clear of it. High grade unc, give me a break! At best, AU50 details, and who knows about that color.
