Tony Leswick scored the winning goal in game 7 overtime to win the Wings the cup in 1954. Only the second time in NHL history a Cup has been won in Game 7 overtime. enough of the trivia

I can tell you the real reason why the card is selling for that much. Id just rather not post it here out of respect for the bidder
54 topps is a difficult year to find in high grade. It is a condition-sensitive set due to the blue/red borders, much like the 71 topps baseball.
it is always the first year Topps issued hockey cards and cards like the Howe for example are similiar to a 51 bowman Mantle versus a 52 Topps Mantle. In some aspects the 54 topps howe is more desirable than his rookie 51 parkhurst IMO.
There are 2 reasons this card has reached that amount. 1 look at everybody's 1954 topps set that is not 100%. Most of them have the Leswick missing, he is a common, I suppose a lot less Leswicks have been submitted to PSA over the Years than the Howes. reason # 2. gowingzgo has been hoarding the Leswick card. He has put in illegal deals with sellers like hockeycrd, to only sell him any 1954 topps Leswicks he gets, which by the way is illegal business practices in a fair market economy. What I think gowingzgo is doing is trying to get all of them and then he will try to charge a ridiculous price because anyone that has the Leswick in their set, probably won't sell. check out the ungraded and the PSA graded Leswicks on ebay. Who has a bid on them? gowingzgo. Mr Anthony Westley is not a very nice person either. What's funny with the $325 bid, is that with ebay somone usually sees something like this, has the same card in the same grade then lists it and get a third or less than the first one sold.
what doyou think rockerfeller did. He bought up all the available oil well and then named his own prices. If gowingzgo get the opportunity to buy up all the available Leswick cards, what do you think he will do?
in a free market economy, he has the right to pay whatever he wants for items, and subsequently resell them for whatever he wants. capitalism at its finest.
i know many guys who bid on low pop cards they already own, either because they want another copy or to protect their initial investment. as long as they pay if they happen to win, there's no problem with it. it isn't against ebay rules, nor United States laws
You don't understand what a monopoly is if you think his owning all the Leswicks is free market economy. If he owns them all, he is not allowinging a free and fair market to exist. That is why monopolies became illegal after rockerfeller messed everyone up with the oil.
Are you aware that if you are a store sells water and that a major storm or whatever destroyed the clean drinking water of the area, you cannot raise your water prices right after that? We are in a free market economy, but not in a do whatever you want economy. There is a reason for it. If you have anarchy in business, it will kill this country. It will become like all the inflation packed 3rd world countries.
usually antitrust suits are class action, not by one individual. Oil is not a necessity if you do not use gasoline. You can have a solar powered house, or wind powered. It has nothing to do with necessity. It has all to do if there is demand and the seller is price gauging.

Newbie, are you for real? There were thousands of that card printed, and I'm sure that thousands still exsist now. They may not all grade 7+, but they are out there. Would you file monopolistic charges against a hardware store owner in town if he was the only store to stock snow shovels? Would you call the police if you lived in a small town with only one drugstore and tell them that the Pharmacist is running a monopoly and should be shut down? You would get laughed at. Here one for you, what about some player collectors out there trying to get everycard of a limited edition of a player#1 of 25, #2 of 25 etc..
How about if you bid on a 1 of 1 card on ebay. If you win the ONLY ONE you would be a monopoly, and subject to charges?
You totally don't get my point game used, that's why you resonded the way you did. First of all, if thousands were still available every one that wanted one would have it already.
believe whatever you want because what I've learned on these boards in the past few days is that truth does not matter in this place, it's your truth that matters to you. I wonder how many people here still believe the earth is flat?
Price Fixing is a per se illegal violation of section 1, and does not take into consideration market power.
US v. Trenton Potteries – 273 US 392 (1927): A combination to fix and maintain uniform prices by a group controlling 82% of the market is illegal per se.

calling out murcerfan? i wouldn't think a "newbie" would know murcerfan from the president
It's a free country and do what you want..... but I'm going to start to not enjoy hockey threads as much if this stuff starts going on. (Although I do agree with you).
When I watch a hockey game, I enjoy the skill of the game. I could care less about the fights. It appears that this newbie needs to be ignored, not incited.
I wonder who gets the 2 minutes for instigation on this thread ?
Now I'm understanding all the warnings some of the guys gave me after my first post. If someone disagress with the facts that seem to only exist in "your little world" then the person disagreeing is messed up. That funny, I thought a public forum was public. maybe not.

goodriddance. I'm sorry, that was not directed at you, do not take it personally.
About Mr Westly, I was merely pointing out as to why the Leswick has gone so high. Since I had an answer, I shared it. Now Doncherry, why don't you share an answer with everyone?
Why would you contact Mr Westley through ebays contact system concerning a card that you do not collect. Maybe Mr Westley can take time out and post exactly what you asked him that he needed to provide a response.
If for nothing else we can see your the biddingstopshere ebay name at the top of it or your new ebay name
You know my ebay name was going to be bidittowinit but you know someone i know took that name bid up everyones auctions and then didnt pay them. They told me he was from Astoria . Its a very sad story

Please do, I have over 300 of the 1954 Topps #45 Leswick card. 12 of the PSA 7’s and 3 of the PSA 8’s
The higher the closing prices, the more the card goes up! I appreciate your help.
Thank you.

just saying if you want to follow this up and file something against gowings, you wont get very far

Why don't you say who you are doncherry. All I see you doing is hiding behind a beer can.
So back to talking hockey cards it doesnt look like you will be finishing your 54 set anytime soon
<< <i>Why don't you answer who you are doncherry? Being very evasive. I don't own any 1954 topps hockey cards. >>
Then i guess you dont need to worry about Mr Westley buying practices concerning the 1954 Topps Leswick

Again you avoid the question. Why don't you answer it? You seem very quick to accuse and shun, but you don't want any one to know who you are.
