anyone have any hints or tips? players you think will have a better-than-average season? players flying under the radar that are still on waivers you should pick up? etc.

I picked up Roberto Alomar and Joe Mauer off waivers (to replace my pathetic 2b and c Benito Santiago and Todd Walker), I hope they will have good seasons, also picked up Gil Meche (in place of Kenny Rogers)...all my other players I got in the draft which I was very pleased with

Keep an eye on releif pitcher for the Reds - Ryan Wagner. He will be taking over the closer role before the All Star break. He has great stuff. He pitched in the eigth inning today and gave up 0 earned runs and 2 strikeouts. Grab him.

Hi again,

It is hard to see how your team is when the specifics are not know, like how many teams in the league, how many at each position, etc. and the rosters of the rest of the league. If it is a deep league like 14 or 15 teams, yes you have a good team, except it seems like you do not have any closers. Rodriguez like Wagner should be closing by mid season. Good selection.

I am in 2 leagues this year and have been doing this since 1985. Draft day is one of my favorite days of the year.

Unless I overlooked your team it is going to be difficult for you to win since you don't have a closer. You have a good solid offense and some great starting pitchers but you need at least 2-3 closers in the yahoo leagues to win typically. Having good closers gives you solid rankings in 3 categories typically, Whip, ERA, and saves. I would check the FA list for guys like danny kolb, arthur rhodes, danny graves, and a lot of other guys that may pick up saves, best of luck.

Mac Dougal is KC closer, they have a shot at the division this year. Could be a good pick-up.
