Wait until you read the toning on this quarter....

No, the title is not a typo. I mentioned this coin in my WESPNEX show report, it's a nicely toned 1956 Washington Quarter. The reverse has speckled green and red toning which came up brown in my photo.

Here's the neat part: on the obverse you can see two lines of backwards text which are untoned, which must have been printed on the envelope in which this was stored. I can make out 'Quot' across his shoulders, there is another word through his hair and forehead which I couldn't decipher or get to photograph.

This coin reminded me of a spectacular Walker someone once posted here with the word 'DEPARTMENT' reversed in the toning. If someone has the image I'd love to compare it to this coin.
