New Bulgarian commemorative

As of today, the Bulgarian National Bank is to release a new commemorative coin with face value of 50 stotinki. The event commemorated on the coin is Bulgaria's accession to NATO, which happened on Friday, the 2nd of April.

Reported mintage is 1 million pieces. The entire mintage is supposed to be put into circulation at face value. The coin features a stylized NATO emblem in place of the Madara Horseman, who appears on the regular type.

One of my grandfathers came from Bulgaria. He passed long before I was born. I have a few nice Bulgarian coins that I picked up because of my heritage.

The only nice coins are the 10 Santim Essai, the set from 1916 and the Heaton failure from 1923. image
