PSA Sell and Trade Registry

There may be a hundred good reasons why it can't or shouldn't be done, but seems to me that this would be useful.

My thoughts were that it could be a parallel registry where you could list your dup's or just stuff you were ready to part with.
In the heading, you could list cards you are interested in acquiring.
Perhaps there could be a price associated with each card listed.

If PSA needs incentive, they could require membership to access.
Just a thought.

  • I think logically it's a great idea. Logic doesn't always fly around here though. If it were done, I would like to see player sets available as well. Just a thought.

  • I think it's a great idea. Can you imagine the dent it might make in the card sales on eBay? Especially if it didn't cost anything to register your cards. Both buyers and sellers would benefit greatly and probably save a few bucks. No emotional auction runaways.
  • side you just said the magic phrase why it won't happen"Especially if it didn't cost anything to register your cards" only if PSA can make money will they do it.
  • So true,

But what if an independent web site was to do something like this? Name it a little differnet. It could be the Napster of the PSA card world!

Yo newbie, PSA doesn't make money on allowing collectors to use the registry so your rationale is out the window.

I have thought about doing this with my site. However, I doubt PSA would give out permission to access the cert # database to any site.

  • First of all 1420 keep your rude attitude to yourself. Second of all, try reading before responding ignorantly. PSA does not have a selling and buying section on the website, or at least I have not seen anything, but I'm sure if people were buying and selling on it, they would eventually charge a fee. That's what i was getting at.

    murcerfan;

Keyser Soze... that's priceless! You just woke me up this morning! Thanks!
  • I'm trying to work with what's already available. I frequently use the Vintage Sportscard Trading board for this stuff.

In fact, now that I mention it, I just posted three "opportunities" a few minutes ago, including a MINT 9 1967 Clemente.image

Thanks for the thread and thanks in advance for taking a look.

But, they do. PSA's set registry is a big money maker for them, it keeps the grading fees rolling in. Why else would we grade our otherwise worthless commons? They may not make money from the registry itself, but make no mistake about why it exists.

Trading is fine just the way things are.You have the vintage board and a lot of the same set-builders know eachother already so people know where to go to find cards they need. It's actually better than involving PSA's website to place price tags on cards and turning the registry into an on line shopping place.

Turning the registery into a blatant shopping place is a recipe for disaster,it would open up a can of worms that would make some people feel that PSA is responsible for something that could possibly go wrong between a buyer and a seller.

I was being rude? If I said you do not know what the fruck you are talking about then that would have been rude. You said PSA charges for things (indirectly) and I pointed out an area where they do not.

Second of all, try reading before responding ignorantly.

um, okay. I will newbie. I am sorry and I hope that you do not let this dissuade you from future posts.

  • Why not email your idea in to PSA? I think its a winner and if they don't do it, someone else will! Its just a matter of time.

    Good luck!

  • Too late - it already exists.

You can list cards with a "for sale" price. You can list cards wanted with a "buy" price. So far the service is free. They were advertising pretty hard at the Tri Star show in Phoenix.

You can list raw cards, PSA graded cards, or other third-party "graded" cards.

So far not much there that I've found interesting.

It's easy to create a registry set of cards for sale or trade. Just list those cards as a separate registry set, give it a name (like John Doe's Available '72's), make the list of what is in there publicly available (possibly with pictures), and link your email address to the set
Presto, you have a trading/selling set listed on the registry.

I'm actually thinking about doing that with '54 Bowman - I have 2 spare common PSA 7s and Kuenn RC in PSA 6 available, and am steadily working on the set. [BTW, if anyone is interested in trading equivalent value SMR cards for the Kuenn in PSA 6 or Paul LaPalme or Alex Kellner in PSA 7, PM me.]

I was actually putting up a second set for the purpose of showing others what I have for trade when I thought about this idea of a separate registry.
I also remember psa frowns on listing cards for sale as a use of the set registry....

The PSA Set Registry is to be used to list collections of cards and is not to be used to sell cards. Listing a card(s) with the intent to sell it and/or pricing a card(s) in the registry will not be accepted. The set registry is self-policing. Should you see a infraction of this policy, please report it to
