Finally finished my ALL-Time NFL QB set

This set proved to be challenging as well as a lot of fun. I especially loved learning about like S. Baugh, S. Luckman and B. Layne. The last piece to the set was the 48 Leaf S. Baugh PSA 6. This card looks to be a 7 and is a candidate for a PSA review ans well as the 65 Topps Namath. I believe whomever submitted this card asked for NQ, otherwise it would have been an 8OC. I would prefer the 8OC because this card is so sharp it doesn't deserve to be in a 6 holder.
Aside for upgrading the Starr and Tarkenton to PSA 8 and trying to upgrade the 48 Leaf cards to PSA 7(that's going to be a challenge), I can't wait till some of today's QB's (Manning, Brady, Bledsoe, Flutie (don't laugh)) qualify for the list

Congratulations, always great to hear about a collector finishing a set!
  • I was going to try that a few years ago, but it was too expensive. Way to go.

I'm still one card short on the QB set...Still waiting for that PSA 8 Otto Graham to pop up...I've still got some upgrading to do if i want to equal Frank's set though.

Congrats, your All-Time sets (WR, QB, RB) are masterpieces...Still hoping you wait until I get to 100% on my NFL HOF rookie set before you decide to jump in...lol

    Nice. Way to go Frank.

    Loves me some shiny!
  • Thanks for the comments guys. I will be posting scans of the cards, but my schedule is so packed I won't get to it till early summer.

Skinsfan- I thought it was you who outbid me on those 67's. Congrats. I'll wait for the next one's to come up and hopefully they'll be cheaperimage

1420sports- I hope McNabb makes the set too, but I don't ever see him putting up the passing numbers like Favre, Marino or Elway. He'll need to be more like Aikman and orchestrate soom Super Bowl wins.

Joe- The Otis is in the mail and it'll be in my set by the end of the week. I still have some upgrading to do, but I'm particular as to what cards deserve to belong in the set.

ThreeofSix- I just noticed that they were mostly New England boys. Bledsoe has the numbers, but needs a Championship. Brady needs one more Super Bowl win and his numbers won't matter (kinda like Aikman). Flutie deserves to be on the list just for what he did in Canada. He never got the respect of NFL coachs and played on some bad teams. He's my sentimental favorite.

Jason- Don't worry. If I can't work on a set for completion, I won't work on it at all. I don't like to post my cards in other sets just to see my name on a list. Plus I promised myself no new projects till I finish the sets I'm currently working on. But, hey, you never knowimage

Frank, I am the same way. I have completed 7 sets, and my lowest completion % on any of my 18 sets is 73%. I only list sets I am planning on finishing..

An NFL HOF rookie set would be a MAJOR undertaking, no doubt. With 174 cards, ranging from 1933-1989 its a time consuming effort(money consuming as well..lol)...

Since you only collect the PRIMO examples, you'd be facing a tough task. BUT, with the cards you have in your All-Time sets, you are a BIG step ahead already.

And the first pic you need to post is the PSA 8 1957 Berry...I could easily see that card in a PSA 9 slab and would not question the grade one bit...

    Best of luck,
    Jason
