coin folder/album question

I have a question regarding whitman coin folders and albums.

I am in the process of filling in some holes in some old whitman coin folders that were given to me by my dad(wheat cents, buffalo nickel and jefferson nickel). The coins are in circulated condition any I have yet to acquire most of the key dates. I am a bit worried about continuing to store these coins in the whitman folders as I start purchasing some of the more expensive key date coins.

I have considering purchasing some of the whitman or dansco superior coin albums that have the plastic slides to cover the front and back of the coins. Will these albums provide enough protection?

Another option would be to store them in cardboard 2x2's and the plastic three ring binder inserts. Which option would I be better off going with. Any other suggestions are welcome

Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve, do a search for "album". You will find a bunch of threads with good information in them. Have fun! Becky

  • Keep them in the original folders if they are just good lower grade coins. You'll be glad you did. If you have higher grade coins in those folders then albums are a great idea. I use the Intercept Shield albums. They offer great corrosion protection for you high end coins. You can view both sides of the coin in these albums as well as the Whitman albums.
