Opinions: Ebay Seller....Webbulator....Unopened sets???

I'm sure several of us have bought from him on this site. Just curious what you all have rec'd from his unopened sets and your opinions on his items overall. I have nothing but praise for his service but has anyone ever opened anything worth the premiums his auctions always bring?? Have you ever actually found coins you've sent away???

That is Val Web, great person to deal with.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

I've bought two batches of 25 unopened 1964 sets from him. Found nothing but ordinary coins. I actually bought them quite some time ago, though, when they could be had for $270 a batch. I don't know about his recent material.

Bought two un-opened proof sets from him off of eBay. As you noted, the CS was great but both sets were dogs.

OK, here goes. Every unopened set that I've bought stayed unopened for about a minute. I've bought 1952, 1954, 1956, 1957, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963 and 1964 sets from Val. The condition of all the sets appeared to be truly unopened. (Although from previous threads, I know that some people think I am naive on this point.) Results (all PCGS):

    1952 1c Pr67Rd
    1952 5c Pr67Cam
    1952 50c Pr66Cam, Pr66

    1954 10c Pr68Cam
    1954 50c Pr64

    1960 10c Pr68Dcam (This one was caked with frosting -- expected a 69Dcam.)

Best luck was with the early 50's sets. However, I am still waiting on an economy submission from Jan27 with many of the 60's coins.

I bought many, many sets over two years ago and have never detected any problems. I resold a portion still unopened when the prices skyrocketed (esp. on those 1958s), but I have many very nice proofs (10-12 CAMs) just sitting in saflips waiting to send in to PCGS. Also, some gorgeous Jeff proofs with cameos and nice toning. Is PCGS still bagging these nice Jeff toners?
