Bidder "accidentally" used Buy it Now

I'm looking for a quick answer and I assume Ebay's answer won't be quick. I had a "time-sensitive" item for sale on Ebay (supposed to end tomorrow). Today, I received a notice that the item had ended with But it Now. (This is no lie: I received the message when I was on the way out the door to eat dinner. I ordered the most expensive item on the menu to celebrate the sale.) After dinner, I get home and find a note from the buyer: I meant to bid $30, but accidentally hit "But it now". Sorry

Is there any way to resume the auction? I really wanted it to end tomorrow night.

Tell him you will relist it. and he bids 150$ on it. so if he wins then he got it half price instead of 30$ if he loses then you make the 300$ anyway and tell him to pay your listing fees, since it was his mistake!!!

  • You also have to file a final value credit to ebay or have the buyer pay for it besides the listing fee. I don't think it can be resumed. You can list it using the 1 day auction.

This same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago, a seller hit BIN "by mistake" and had no intention of paying the $1900 that the item was selling for. Ebay was of no help, their policy being that a BIN bid cannot be retracted and the buyer must pay. I worked out a deal with the buyer on the side where he paid my eBay fees for the item, and I relisted the item after his check cleared. Ebay has a problem here and this is one of the shortcomings of using BIN as a seller.

    Live long and prosper.

these are all Big Fat Liars!

You do not "accidently" use Buy IT Now...
you have to agree to that about 3 times
and they would have to "accidently" do it
    all the different times...
you are getting jerked around so
I would report it as a "non paying bidder"
with ebay and file for your fees.

(and then if they give you any crap, Neg them!)

Absolutely correct...except...if you have incorrectly placed the wrong number in you bid...an extra "0" let's say...I'm not sure you are going to catch it until it's to late...I think your apt to be just pushing buttons...and not reading what you are agreeing to...at least it is possible...

If you read each of the three request and paid attention...then the accident wouldn't happen...but most people don't read...is my opinion...

I have no sympathy for the wrong bid...but I can understand how it might happen...

You're going to probably have to relist your item...I think if this guy is honest he'll agree to pay for your resubmittal...that's the least he can do...after all he screwed up...

As to ending tomorrow night...that might be a problem...
