1959 Topps #330 Triandos PSA 8

Up until this week, this was the lowest pop card in 1959 Topps baseball at 6. It is now at 7 and tied with Ray Moore. Any guess on how much this one will go for? It is truly a very difficult card because the centering is always terrible on this one. There is one on ebay now. It looks like it is not centered real well and it has some printing problems but it still got an 8. All 1959 set registry members will have to seriously think about bidding on this one. The last one I saw got pulled in the first day. Someone must have made the seller an offer he couldn't refuse. Check it out.

My guess is $550.

I don't know how to link but maybe someone will link it. thanks!

That's the worst centering I've ever seen for a straight 8.

That snowstorm in the background looks like a blizzard! How does this not get a PD?

So, it went for $355. That is quite a bit lower because it looks like a 7 card in an 8 holder. Trust me, this is the hardest card in the 1959 Topps set, even harder than Hunter, Amaro, Moore, Rice, etc. If a well centered one with no snow was put up, it would fetch a hefty price.

don't know too much about the snow storm but the centering is within reason and within guidelines. it is about the same as both straight 8 jim brown rookies that were in the superior auction. card is probably a high end 7 and sold accordingly if the toughness of the card is what you guys say.
  • There are more than a dozen cards in the '59 set that are tough as nails. I'd rank 'em in groups of three this way:

    104-Rice
    293-Moore
    330-Triandos

    178-Amaro
    92-Philley
    11-Hunter

    548-Singleton
    183-Miller
    61-Brown (have SGC 86)

    372-Hegan (have SGC 88)
    539-Blaylock (have SGC 88)
    33-Fitzgerald (have SGC 86)

    199-Kiely (have SGC 86)
    572-Pierce AS (have SGC 86)
    282-Stevens (have SGC 86)

    Honorable Mention:
    222-Shantz (dang Yankee)
  • Have to agree with Mariner. The Triandos is one of the hardest (and most expensive), with the Rice, Moore, Pierce AS and Turley AS coming right behind, in my humble opinion.

I paid $500 for my Triandos and it is perfectly centered. The Singleton card is very hard to find decently centered. When you find it raw, it is almost 90-10 OC. Probably on a corner. Think about it....to get a perfectly centered Triandos or Singelton, the rest of the sheet must be OC!!!

The other cards that ToppsGun listed are tough but out there. The Cards Team and Deron Johnson RC are a couple more to mention.

  • If we think the '59 Triandos is an eye-popper at $550 wait 'til you see the hammer price on this one (later tonight):

    Cha-ching
  • In addition, the 1961 PSA 8 Wills and Gibbon are this weekend. Boy, I better find some cash real quick.
