Help with weighing a Player Set

I'm put in a request for a Mel Harder (Baseball) Player Set. I was hoping to do both
his player years (1928-1947), but also add in his coaching years (1947-1969), but
BJ said it might open up a can of worms, so I can only do his playing years.

Anyways, she sent me an excel spreadsheet with information on it. I've added a
few cards that she didn't have, but I'm not sure if they will grade all of them. If
anyone from the spreadsheet sees cards that they will not put on the registry,
please let me know and I'll remove it.

She also put down the best grade for the cards that were listed and she asked me
to put in another column that shows the worth of the card in PSA 8 condition to
assist with weighing the set.

I'm not sure what to put in the weighting column. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dale

  • This may not be what youre looking for/asking but...

When I weighted mine, I used a 1-10 point scale (10 being the tougher end of cards and key issues). More common and easily gradeable stuff gets a 1 and the tougher stuff is towards the 10 end.
Eddie Murray, Will Clark and Darin Erstad collector, check my wantlists for what I need.

set registry grade weights are determinrd by ; VALUE ($) IN NM-MT (PSA-8) CONDITION.
weight questions are hardest to determine when a particular card has never been sold or even graded as high as a psa-8.
rarity of a particular card (sometimes) has nothing to do with what grade weight it will receive, i`m sure many set collectors have run into this before (including me) hope that helps, lee

Set weight is in the infant stages of development in a few sets out there. Some where the weight makes no sense to me,but I think over time many of the newer sets are subject to change as time progresses and the difficulty of certain cards become discovered as well as more players are induceted in Cooperstown.

Heh.There are a couple players in my favorite set that are weighted and are not HOFERS (Example - Andre Dawson) while quite a few HOFERS have no weight. Then you have 4 new HOFERS where 2 already had set weight and 2 still nothing has changed.

Eventually it will change, but I don't really think it will make or break anything with the value,or appreciation of certain sets as well as certain cards in the years I'm thinking of.
