I recently received a PM from a fellow board member who pointed out some critical comments I made on the SGC board. Although I did not attack anyone personally, I did make disparaging comments about the board in general. So although this was directed at no one in particular I want to apologize to this board as a whole.
I will also leave out any negative comments about PSA or Joe Orlando. It's his company and I am not a customer so I will leave it in the hands of his customers to make suggestions on how to improve PSA. Realizing that many of you have a lot of money invested in their graded cards, my negative comments only provide anxiety, alientation, anger, and hostility to some. You all know where I stand on this issue so it doesn't need to be repeated again
I'm tired of the fussing, bickering, back-biting going on back on forth on the various boards...it's silly. We're all grown men/women and someone made a good comment that life is too short. So I am going to leave any negativity out in future posts. I am always willing to help anyone in their collections or point them in the right direction...I collect hockey vintage and boxing vintage so my average knowledge is limited to these areas.
sincerely,
JG

I've been reading these boards for a long time and have always enjoyed the upbeat
excitement surrounding people's collections. I've always stayed away from the negative.
This PSA family isn't perfect, but the families that always try to accentuate the positive seem
to do better than the families that always nitpick on each other.
Look forward to your hockey comments in future posts.

Good perspective. As you point out, you did not attack anyone personally though, which I find to be the most dissapointing reading on the boards when I see it, or am subjected to it. There should be no apology required for voicing an opinion that is not personal. IMO.
You post many informative tidbits and look forward to seeing more of them.
Hi John...
I don't believe we have ever met or had any dealings, but your comments were refreshing.
I give you 3 'attaboys for you genuine concern for making this hobby and these boards a better place to be...
I, along with you will strive to accentuate the positives...

Grillo,
I think you are giving yourself way too much credit. Who are you again? And why do you think that your comments cause anxiety for many people?
Everyone is entitled to their opinions. If we disagree on one issue or one-hundred issues, so be it.
Koby
Grillo's the one who announced he was leaving the boards and then couldn't keep his word.
I love Don Mossi cards. Nobody can imitate those windcatchers!
<< <i>Newbie,
Don't know if you have been reading these boards for a while before you started posting. Grillo is one of the most negative PSA-bashers in the hobby. Bashing PSA on PSA's own discussion forums for crying out loud!!!
A few months ago, Grillo in protest over something he did not agree with promised the entire hobby that he would never post on the PSA forums again. Not long afterwards, here he is again, bashing PSA as if he never never left.
If you read messages psoted on other hobby forums, you will see the same thing...not a single positive comment about PSA. In fact, many disparaging remarks about the PSA product, PSA executives and other collectors.
Koby
Grillo,
Same question. What makes you think that you are such an important figure in this hobby that your words cause anxiety for other collectors?
Koby >>
Regards.
Nothing to do with cards, but fun. 5's and 6's are usually the other topic here.
<< <i>Newbie- ok, so you're asking yourself "did he fire 5 shots or 6. If you're feeling lucky, you think it's 5."
Regards.

Funny. I like his other movie Coogan's bluff. Great view of NYC in the 1960's. A great one for NYC views in 1973 is Serpico, the movie that was the deciding factore in me not becoming a police officer and staying a bum a little longer.
Why not climb down from your pedestal and identify yourself? Undoubtedly you are a true genius of the hobby, why not let us know who you are?
You are still a laugh a minute -- SGC one of you favorite grading companies? Now, that's a good one given your comments on that company over the past couple of years. Stop playing games genius.
I would guess you are aware the TV series McCloud starring Dennis (Gunsmoke) Weaver was based on or stolen from the movie Coogan's Bluff ( site of the old Polo Grounds stadium I think ). Ever see the movie "Prince of the City" starring Treat Williams ? very good police miovie in my view.
"I know what you're thinking. Did he fire six shots or only five? Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you got to ask yourself one question...
Do I feel lucky. Well, do ya punk?"
IMO, one of the greatest lines in movie history, I can't hear his voice in my head as I read it.
Sorry to interupt the thread!!!
Ripken, Brooks & Frank Robinson, Old Orioles, Sweet Spot Autos, older Redskins - Riggins, Sonny, Baugh etc and anything that catches my eye.

Thanks for the post Grilllo. Just ignore the personal atacks, and I apppreciate your staying away from them.
Grillo, that was a nice gesture.

Anyhow,it doesn't matter to me what this or any other problem is that causes you to feel to post an apology. For the most part you are one of the few non PSA supporters who seems to be fair in your assesment and points you argue. While it's going to raise an eyebrow or two every now and then you seem to make note of your concern with the collector and their well being in the hobby. So if that is what you are all about then great.I just wanted to point that part of you out about being for the collector's well being.
If you don't like PSA then fine. But you or anyone else who doesn't -Watch your P's and Q's because this is there house and I guess that is why you are posting this apology to a degree.Or I guess you said something across the street that got back here.Whatever, you know?
Anyhow,on another note I tried to email you the other day but your email bounced so I PMd you and hope you got it.
Now I'll go back to my little corner and stay out of this.
Good luck folks!

Grillo,
While I see you as somewhat of a PSA basher,I really don't care. That is what is great about this country. The ability to have and voice an opinion.I also feel that yours was a nice gesture and appreciate your willingness to voice an apology.I am glad that you chose to return to the boards,in that I feel you do contribute positively to the discussions most of the time. For those that cannot see past your stating that you would never return to this board,I say get on with your life.
Vic
Unfortunately, I have decided to leave the boards. I am leaving in protest over the lack of high quality PSA bashing. In the old days, we used to get really good PSA bashing threads going. Trimmed cards, slow service, no service, overgrades, quarterly financial statements showing that PSA was bankrupting, WIWAG, yup, those were the days. This board just no longer has the in depth quality PSA bashing of the SGC or Network 54 boards. It's really sad how all of the high quality bashers have gone. Everyone needs to wake up before this board continues to go downhill.
For all of my friends on the board that want to trash PSA in private, drop a note to glenngaryglennross@yahoo.com I will send you updates whenever I hear of any negative PSA rumour that pops up.
And dont send me notes begging for my return. Also, please refrain from offering me gifts and such in exchange for my return. I have made my decision. It's a decision set in stone. Rock solid. Well thought out. That's it! No returns for glenngary. No sir. I am leaving and not looking back. I don't care how lame the SGC board is, this is it for me. Done with PSA (even though I never submitted any cards). Done with the message boards.
Every time someone leaves the board there is a heartfelt "please don't go, we need you here". When Joe comes on the boards there is a "thanks Joe, that is why I am with PSA" and now when someone owes an apology it is "you weren't wrong, and everything is better" ... and now people are accepting open apologies from just because there is a post about it. I guess it helps the post count and some can get to the titles of "expert collector, king, or the greatest poster EVER" faster.
This is a hobby board. Come and go as you please as I personally do not care. I do not care about open apologies for ripping my grading choices, as I am a man and an adult - a grading co. preference is not an personal insult where I come from. I do not care if you prefer GAI over PSA and I do not care that you sit and bee-otch about the PSA boards on the SGC boards, and here too come to think about it.
I really wish I knew who koby is, but he/she makes a lotta sense.
Why don't you reveal who you are, punk? Then we'll take it on from there.
<< <i>Instead of making an entire thread about stopping the negativity in your PSA posts, just do it. I have not seen negativity in your posts here, just on the ones on the SGC board - which needs an entire area on "anti-PSA" because other than those posts, there really isn't anything. Which is a shame. I guess the SGC boards are not good enough for you, as you are back.

We all have our opinions and we all have times where we'd like to take back our words. Thanks for being a big enough man to stand by your words and yet realize that you MAY have stepped over some line in the sand.
I'm a fan of the PSA grading system, the volume of PSA material available and the whole grading process. Do I like SGC too??? Sure do...
Thanks for participating!
