E/Bay & Board member table manners question

Just wondering the do's & dont's; I saw an item I liked & made a bid for the first time. Am I gonna have to babysit the sale, PM the seller (board member) or not? Any posted or accepted board guidelines?
Thanks in advance.
Jack

Did you make the bid on E-bay or on the boards?

Geez I feel like a kid.....lol. Is it in bad taste to pm a board member about their e/bay auction? When you email the seller of an auction is there a mailbox at Ebay I don't see or do they reply to the individuals email? Never bid before & I'm not sure about that Paypal stuff. If I get one more password I think I'll die of cranial overload!

Not at all. If you have questions about the coin, or win it or just for general chat, not a problem. Lots of us PM back and forth as we buy from each other on eBay.

It goes to the seller's eMail address and the response would come from that address.

  • I communicate through email often with buyers and sellers, rather members of this board, another board, or not. In fact after the sale or purchase we often talk about future listings and sometimes sell to each other without ever listing the item(s). A way to make good contacts. Now not all will comply or even necassarily respond in a timely, but the majority do, in my cases anyway. I always do.

  • I would suggest using a service like auction sniper and place your bids through them. They will bid for you with 5 seconds left (known as sniping) so that your competition has no time to respond by raising their bid. They charge a very very small fee, like $0.10, but over time it will save you much money and free time, since you will not have to babysit the auction, as you said.

    Good luck.
SSP: if you join auction sniper (for free) feel free to use me as a referal (Ebay ID 29john29), I'll get three free snipes.
