Jordan Rookie Fakes

How can one tell if a 1986 Fleer Jordan is a fake or not? I want one, but don't want to pay the PSA price on Ebay. I wonder if it would be too risky buying an ungraded one from a REPUTABLE seller with a MONEY BACK GUARANTEE? I would then get it graded. If it is fake, then get my money back. I know its risky, but could it be worth it?

How can I tell if one is fake?

Any reputable seller that has a NM-MT Jordan RC will either:

    1) have it graded by PSA
    or
    2) sell it for close to PSA price ungraded

I wanted to try the same thing, but in the end thought the risk of getting ripped off outweighed the possible savings.
  • For some reason, I can't find the article online that helped me figure out counterfeits.

In any case, fellow board member and fellow 50 Bowman collector, BruceMo, has a great article on 86 Fleers if you're interested:

I have some good pictures to help spot fakes but I haven't figured out how to post pictures here. If somebody can host them, I will email them to you for everyone to see.
