Tales from the coinroom - last one and interesting

In a new bin of nickels straight from the fed, I noticed a high percentage (5% maybe) consistently mixed throughout the bin, that has a fairly deep lavender tone. (denver mint by the way). Since they came straight from the fed, still in their mint sealed bins, they had to have come from the mint that way. I was at a loss to figure out what could have caused it. Improper alloy mix maybe? The toning was uniform and covered 100% of the coins, including the edges, which is why the alloy mix issue is the only thing I could come up with. Any suggestions? Anyone seen any others?
By the way, this is my last tales from the coinroom report. I finally got a job offer in my true field of work (telecom engineering), and I can leave two years of in between jobs behind! Woohoo!

Maybe MadMarty works at the mint part time? I know he has a lot of purple Jeffersons.
Congrats on the new job and thank you for your "tales from the coinroom". I have enjoyed the reports. Somehow I think that "tales from the telecom engineering room" will not be as interesting.
