Never seen this type of holder. Does the Columbian have a value?

Yes, it's a first gen. The Columbian has little real value, but there are some collectors who would love to have it.

Shake it, if it makes noise you have yourself a genuine rattler.

I predict that you will receive a PM or two asking if it's for sale. Demand stupid money for it.

Given grey sheet is probably $4 for that coin, you can probably get $30+
Give Blood (Red Bags) & Platelets (Yellow Bags)!

Hmmmmmmmm?? Awful lot of wear for Colombian halfs, I wonder if these are some of those coins which exhibit artificially manufactured imitation wear that we heard about last year??

RR- I believe these were graded long before the Braddick craze of collecting worst condition census coins. I doubt if the wear on these is artificial.

I have an old PCGS Gen-1 holder that is unusual because the Morgan Dollar does not rattle when the holder is shaken (but not stirred...)
For some reason the coin is solidly positioned inside the old "rattler" type holder...
