Interesting SMR Statistics

Readers: 8% women

Median Age of Readers: 37+

Median Household Income = @$92,000 (yet only 29.3% over $100,000, indicating a few significant outliers)

Only 68% have a college degree
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

MS - Interesting figures, where did you obtain the info from?
And your statement of "Only 68% have a college degree", I thought that was quite high. Since some readers are in college or younger, and some readers like my boy are in the service, so 2 outta 3 seems like alot to me...jay

    Beckett is pretty similar:

    8% women

$63,789 average household income (median would be lower)

    average age 35

No such details will spoil my plans...

Hmmm, highly educated and well paid folks read the magazine!

Yet why are the articles and advertisements so dumbed down then? With only a scant few exceptions, the articles seemed to be written with a fourth grader reader in mind. The advertisements weren't much better, many of which seemed like snake oil salesmen trying to reel in suckers. I could read the SMR front-to-back in about five minutes. Some articles were so basic and Harry-Potterish that I'd be able to speed read them so fast it would have made President Kennedy proud. So when my sub lapsed I couldn't have cared less. I think I even missed a few issues along the way but didn't care enough to make a fuss.

With these figures from mikeschmidt in mind, I must think that I'm not alone in my feelings. Maybe if they smarten this publication up I might start actually start receiving it again.
  • where did the SMR figures come from again - link only to beckett no?

How did they get this info? Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't remember ever offering this info to PSA when I have renewed my membership.

I would skew those statistics, big time! image

i'm willing to bet those statistics are intended to be skewed just from the premise they're aimed towards advertising $$. furthermore, it doesn't take a phd in statistics to assume the numbers don't come from a scientifically sound analysis. that assumption coming from the fact no deviation or error percentage is given. multiply that with the fact it's commonly published knowledge people try to inflate their incomes to others whenever possible...and those not as happy with their incomes or educational level are more inclined to decline answers about the matter, while those who are proud of those personal statistics are more likely to flaunt them. just my two cents though.
