As has been pointed out numerous times, moderns are not a series. This applies to high-
grade, low grade, proof or unc. While it's entirely possible that someone would find all
such high grade coins to be over-priced (indeed, this probably applies to the majority of
posters to these boards), the fact remains that some moderns are very rare or scarce and
some of these are high grade. Saying all modern high grade coins are over ated is tanta-
mount to saying that no moderns will ever be collected

I think they mean, coins which are very very very common, and only conditionally rare,

"there are over 500 million of these, but this is one of the 5 best ones!"

I must disagree with you, at least on Half-Dimes. I think they are an undervalued series, with relatively few collectors compared to most series... >>

I agree with JrGMan. Look for the bust half dimes at shows and you'll see how few are available.

I bought my first Capped bust Half-Dime at a show, and I spent the rest of the show searching for another one (At least 100 tables or more)... guess how many more I saw in cases... 0... zippo, zilch, none. For the set, color, and condition I'm working on... it is gonna be tough as hell to complete... and we're talking about 9 coins with a range of price of $50-$100... the challenge isn't in having the money... it's the thrill of the hunt... I've only seen about... 6 or 7 coins out of about 50 that came close to what I'm looking for... and 2 of those were MS coins out of my price range... and I've bought 2 of them... the others just didn't have the quite color, grade, price, or problem free-ness to them. And I've asked some of the best to help me in my search (Thank you JadeRareCoin)... In short... Lathmach is quite correct...

I blew it. I misread and thought that it said UNDERrated series. I would think that moderns and Lincoln cents are OVERrated.

Once this question gets asked, the answer tends to be "all of em."

    Dicey prices.

    Probably.

    It's still not a series.

If someone is going to blast an entire collecting specialty like tokens, classics, or thimbles
then it would also be nice to hear the reasons for it so they can be refuted individually.

While I may or may not agree with some of the things which have been listed so far in this
thread it is certainly interesting that one collector believes a series is greatly over-valued
while another believes the same series is under valued.

you notice I haven't responded to the thread about which series are under-rated.
