PSA/DNA Question

Why is the cost of autograph authentication for a Joe Dimaggio auto, for example, through the PSA/DNA site $75 when you can get a autographed card graded and authenticated for $20? I have several 4 x 6 color photos of HOFers that I had autographed several years ago so would I have to pay the individual fees to have each authenticated?

it's best for some items, such as an autograph baseball of babe ruth, but if you're talking about current players, it's better to get an already certified auto.

they charge that much because they can.
people pay it. (and in many cases it used to be
    much higher!)
Most players stuff is not as expensive now...
around $20 like the cards, but HOFers and RARE
sigs are still a commodity that they will always
charge more for until everyone stops paying it.

I guess what's odd though is that I just paid $20 apiece to have autographed cards authenticated/graded from Dimaggio, Reese, Snider, Roberts and a few others when if it wasn't a card, I'd have to pay more. It just doesn't make sense to me...

A - just be glad you got that deal...

    and

B - rest assured that they WILL raise the price
when they think the massess will pay it.

When items are sent in at the higher authentication fee. Your item is:
    1. tagged with an invisable strand of DNA
    2. tamper proof sticker is placed on back of your picture
    3. you receive a notarized COA with an image of your item and signed by Spence and Grad.

The $20 dollar special gets you a slabbed card ( no COA, sticker or DNA).

They literally mark your item with "DNA" that is
only visible under a special light
    (set to a unique wavelength)

It is all explained on the psadna.com F.A.Q. page
