I am a collector of Canadian coins, and so take my comments with that in mind...I am surprised that a set of that price has not a single coin which is solo finest, or a pop <10/0 finer! If it had the solo finest 1925 and 1929, then I could see it really being worth something. Just my opinion....
boom: your buffalo set sounds like a joy in progress!
I must have three buffalo sets (two incomplete) and one complete in circulated grade. The first set I have does have some of the nick-a-date stuff on them. That was before I learned!
I am quite content having a single type I and type II type coin buffalo coins in slabs.
My other 1927 to 1938 BU buffalos are still raw and they will hopefully remain raw!!!
It would be sad news to FanOfModerns, but it's been Buffalo's that HAVE skyrocketed in the last year - all across the board

175,000 sounds cheap with all those mega varieties and a 26-s in ms63!
I too am trying to put together a raw BU set 1927-1938. Once I finish Lincoln Cents, maybe my next thing to do is save up for a 26-s and begin the full set of Buffalos (unless I see a nice 16-d dime first!).
Oddly, I have not had a single offer for the set, even at the $175,000 level. Considering the very recent explosion in prices again, I find this quite odd. Since I do not really expect an offer, I will withdraw the set and put it away for a few more years. Who knows its' value after that? Maybe I can even pull off a few more upgrades!

ago when my late paternal Grandfather would give them to me each Sunday evening. He would
also give me Indian Head Cents, Standing Liberty Quarters, Mercury Dimes and Walking Liberty
halves! Man, coins were so cool back then! They sparked the imagination of a very young boy.
A lot of coins have come and gone however I still hold on to and cherish my Buffalo Nickel
collection of very nice pieces housed in a Dansco. There are a lot of high grade pieces in it right
along with some fine to AU pieces...nothing remotely close to what you have accomplished here and
believe it or not, I actually cherish that raw set more than my Washington Quarter Registry set!
Congratulations on your achievement. I had better not look at it as I'm afraid I would literally
sell the farm to own it. I am sure that it is awesomely beautiful. If I owned such a set I do not
think I would have it in me to part with it as the Buffalo Nickel is argueably the most beautiful
US minted coin of all time. JMHO
Every now and then I pull that Dansco out and immediately it takes me back to a happier,
simpler time when my world was such a wonderful place in which to live. The sheer sight of
them brings back many fond memories! I'm sure your set is worth every penny and then some.
If I don't watch myself I'll wind up talking myself right into buying it!
And, Boom, you nearly brought a tear to my eye...
It will bring someone much happiness, I believe.
Good Luck to you Irv.
