Roman coin legend

What does the P and F stand for in the following legend:
IMP CARUS P F AVG
My guesses are:
P = pontifex
F = some personified word, like fides or fortuna
This will be the first Roman coin I've ever fully attributed, thanks for any help!
And another thing, did Carus really die from a lightning strike??
