2002 Bowman Draft Picks Sealed Hobby Case- Keep or Sell?
Jaypers

Hello all- I thought I'd look for some advice from my newer friends here. I've posted this topic on the Beckett boards already, but could use some extra input here on the 'thinking man's board'.
Here goes- I've had a sealed Hobby case of 2002 Bowman Draft Picks for some time now, and was considering moving it at this time. Boxes have recently been going off at over $150+, and they're not getting any easier to find. With the season about to begin, this is a time of great speculation. I bought it for a price where I can't lose money either way.
So, do I sell it now, or sit on it 'till later in the season?
Opinions valued and appreciated.

Don't rip it, though. As fun as that might be, chances of you finding any particular great card, like an Upton Gold Refractor or key auto or something, are too slim to be sure of equalling the money you'd get from keeping it sealed or boxing out.

The time and effort to break, sort, scan post, to include fees would probably outweigh the money you would get for them.
You WILL probably take a loss. As someone said earlier its a chance.
The highest active box on Ebay is at 129 right now. There is someone selling with a BIN of $160.
**EDIT**
Im a boob. Read the wrong pricing. hmmmmmm now im in two minds. Do you "need money fast"? Go by the box. If you just want to try and recover I would break them. If neither apply just sit on them, or break half and sit on the rest..... sorry didnt help did I.... probably made your decision that much worse...

Hey Beach, where the hell have you been? We need some of your wisdom on the boards right now.

you wait until exactly 1 year from today and sell it. Willis will do well again this year, Khalil Greene might do alright, and for the beginning of the 2005 season there will be oodles of hype for Upton, Hamels, Greinke, Francoeur, Greg Miller, and probably five or six others. These boxes should be $220 or more by this time next year. This product is going to be the best rookie product ever, better than 99 Bowman Chrome series 2 and 1989 Score football.

This is very true. Good point. Isn't Hermida and Stokes in this set also? What about your boy, Jeremy Reed?

Edited to say that I actually disagree with the '89 Score opinion. That football set has tons of Hall of Famers in it. Barry Sanders, Troy Aikman, Cris Carter, Tim Brown, Thurman Thomas, and Deion Sanders ( maybe one day ).
Possibly true, but in the hobby's terms, 3 baseball Hall of Famers will always beat out 10 football Hall of Famers. Of course there's the 1986-87 Fleer Basketball too, although that set wins by default since it gets the label of having rookie cards of like 5 years worht of draft classes. Beckett should label the Star cards true RC's as well as the 97 Masters Tiger Woods (the SI for Kids are a little too goofy and oddball).

Special shout out to Roach & Jason !
Thank you for the kind words Roach...Before I could use my office P.C. for my daytime contributions, I had to have a techie come out earlier and clean it up from the file guy who likes to sit in my office when I'm in Court...lets just say he not only made access to my sites impossible, but some very interesting things were popping up ( and in and out ) all over the place....ahem....
Now, I like Jaypers, a fellow Chromie like myself and I see the sharks at his feet already; I also know the pressure bills and the like from the practical side of life bring our way....so, in the end, as I suggested on the Beckett Boards, it is Jayper's decision alone.
Who hasn't been there looking at a coveted card or wax that didn't face the issue of sale one day....sometimes when you wait indecisive it can foreclose option A and plan B for expedience and immediacy becoming a necessity.
I can't speak for Jaypers, but if you have to sell, you sell....he knows the value and he knows the bidders OFF Ebay who will pay a fair price.

That's true Mike, but don't you think if he decides to sell it, he should at least list it on Ebay so that such a great financial institution makes even more $$$?
Just a thought.

It's fun to be crazy about one player. If they hit it big, you hit it BIGGER.
The ket to that collection of Mike's is knowing exactly when to list them all. If you get greedy, it may come back to bite you in the a$$. Once he comes up and dominates the hitters during his first round of meeting most teams, SELL! SELL! SELL! That will always be the pinnacle of selling opportunities.
Even if the guy goes on to be the next Prior, no time is better than the time he initially sets fire to the league. Lots of ridiculous comparisons get made, absurd expectations, and let's not forget, off the chart bids!
You're sitting on a large clump of COLE right now Mike. Fortunately for you, this COLE will eventually turn into diamonds sometime soon for you. Know the right time to sell. You openly admit your mistakes with Dontrelle, so here is the best way to redeem yourself. You'll be a star, baby! Call me later.
