Reslabbing

I'm interested in the main reason people reslab coins that are already slabbed. If you've reslabbed what is the main reasons?

I have only reslabbed coins that are in a 3rd world, 3rd Party Grading Co. slabs. I do buy the coin, not the holder, but am always a little concerned about the possibility of cleaning or damage that I have not seen because of my lack of experience. I feel better if I know the experts think it is OK.

Makes sense to me but in several of the "grades back" posts here, I've seen nice NGC coins reslabbed to PCGS. They're not in bad holders, they are not super grades for registry sets, they often don't go up in grades and sometimes go down, they are not coins with huge spreads to the next grade so I'm just befuddled by some of the reholders...

I have rarely cracked coins out. I thought that the coins would upgrade. 2 upgraded and one did not.

I am satisfied with NGC or PCGS. I like ANACS grading, but I hate the size of their slabs because they don't fit in my slab album, so I cross them.

One reason you didn't mention is if the slab is damaged.

In most cases, PCGS slabs are more marketable and will bring more money than NGC slabs. PCGS is more "desirable" to a lot of collectors.
