Question about Half Cent

The attached is my first half cent. Is the reverse of the half cent typically off center?

Any help would be appreciated.

  • I think you mean rotated not off center. Yes most early dates (pre 1850) are seen with minor die rotation in the 10°-20° range. Pieces with major rotation over 90° are a little tougher to find but still do not carry large premiums.

    Thanks for the help!

  • good looking first half cent.the rotation adds interest.Cool.
  • The reverse definately has a slightely misaligned die, which is common on pre 1836 coins.
  • Ditto to what Donovan said. ALL of my middle dates and most of my early dates have some degree of "rotation".

Very nice coin, BTW. Thanks for sharing it!!!
