Inspiration for latest US State Quarter designs

Obviously the inspiration for the latest US State Quarter designs must have come from this coin:

This coin is from the Australian 1994 Year of the Family mint set. The US must have spent many hours drooling over this design and had a tough time trying to emulate its beauty while not directly copying the design. (I first saw this coin in Google thread with K6AZ and just had to get one)

Some recent Canadian coins have been designed by children as one might suppose this one was.

I'm not so sure it was designed by children. I got the following information from the TASMANIAN NUMISMATIC SOCIETY

"This coin in uncirculated condition is currently appreciating in collector value at a very pleasing rate. The controversial Maklouf 1994 Year of the Family 50 cent with its award winning stylised reverse design by Australian artist Carolyn Rosser raised a few eyebrows when it was issued. A wide date variety has brought renewed interest in this coin."

This coin shows wit and abstraction.

The state quarters are mostly bland and uncreative.
I guess the topic was pretty bland to start with.

Sorry to bore you. People seem to be a little harsh around this forum lately.
