Jamie, I'll sell you the cheapest silver three cent piece you will ever find anywhere. Just send me a self-addressed, stamped envelope, and I'll send you a no-date 3c silver. It grades around Good but was holed through the date. Somebody holed it too close to the edge and tried to fix it with solder. The solder was too soft, though, and the hole broke through, so I can't use it on my Holey Coin Vest (I already have one on there anyway.) I think it is a Type 1 from the 1850's. As I recall, you can see a little bit of the date, but not enough to make it out. Yours for the price of a stamped envelope, if you want it.
I have a couple of other, problem-free 3c silvers (one's an 1853 in VF, the other's a G or VG from the 1850's, I think), and a VG 3c nickel from the 1860's, but since I am trying to fill my case at the antique mall and I'm short on this sort of stuff right now, I ain't in a hurry to sell these. (This kind of stuff moves fast in my booth there).
If you want, drop me a PM and I can get you prices on mine, though, if nobody else comes through for you.
I was wonderen if there is a varity for three cent silvers. I don't know anything about them and i had a 1852 and it looks kinka like the bottom of the star is doubled or tripled. It might be like this on all of them, i really don't know. Any info!!!
