CSA cards

Just checking to see if anyone has any of these kicking around from years ago, would have some intrest in CSA 8 of superstars. I remeber them but assume they no longer exist. Were they around before PSA?
If it's worth doing..It's worth overdoing!!

  • Beware of any high grade vintage card in a CSA holder. CSA was awful at picking up altered cards especially cards that had been power erased. Most that I have seen or heard of have not had good results when people try to cross them over to PSA, SGC or GAI.
  • Thanks for the warning, they are actually not for me, someone I know has intrest in them and asked me if I had any way to locate some for him.

Stay away from CSA. CSA fails to catch many counterfeits and alterations. Also, CSA has one of the worst holders around...ugly blue and with a separate gasket that can harm the card if not centered properly.
  • Now I'm worried. I bought a set a couple years ago that had the Patrick Roy second year card in it and had considered crossing it over. Drat!......Gotta look at it closer now

Looking for 81-84 Topps Stickers in PSA 9 or better, 81 Topps Scratch offs, 83 Topps Fold outs in PSA 8 or better, 83 Fleer Stamps and 81/86 Fleer Star Stickers in PSA 9 or better.

I got a few of these in a lot I purchased a while back and tried to cross three of them.

2 crossed and 1 didn't. The one that didn't was a CSA 10 (came back as trimmed).

The two that did cross were a CSA 8 and a CSA 9... both came back as 8's.

I still have 2 left over ... a 1989 Score #257 Barry Sanders RC CSA 8, and a 1978 Topps #400 O.J. Simpson CSA 7.5 They both look about right for the grades, but that seems normal for the older "off brand" cards... it was usually the big money cards, or the 10's you had to watch out for.

I mean... why would anyone trim or alter a 1978 O.J. card and make it a 7.5 or a Sanders to an 8?

If your friend wants them... PM or e-mail me... I guess I could part with these low pop gems. ;-)
