David,
This is what the PCGS Price Guide says toward the bottom of the page: "The prices listed in the Collectors Universe Rare Coin Price Guide are the average dealer asking prices for properly graded United States coins..."
.
This needs to be clarified and placed at the T O P of the page. It needs to state in bold font: "Prices reflect coins graded and authenticated by PCGS."
.
I buy thousands of dollars of coins through the BST Boards from people who aren't members and go there searching for a buyer. It seems the uneducated grade their coins according to the PCGS Price Guide without any knowledge of what the price guide is. One specific case is somebody wishing to sell a roll of 1972 D cents. His phone call went like this: "I have a roll of brand new1972 D pennies. The PCGS Price guide lists them at $1100 each in 67 and I'm willing to let you have them at $1000 each so you can make some money." Clarifying this would help the uneducated and stop the unscrupulous Ebay sellers.
.
Thanks,
Mike
