SMR Appreciation

I happened upon an old printout of the SMR that I took from the website in May 2001 for 1961 Topps baseball cards. I compared it to my most recent SMR magazine, April 2004, published in February, and here is what I found.
----------------------------PSA 7---------------PSA 8--------------PSA 9---
May 2001------------- $9172 --------1 $19848--------------$82012
Feb. 2004----------- $12013 -----------$24792-------------$109370
That is a 31% increase in PSA 7, 25% in PSA 8 and 33% in PSA 9.
While we all know that the SMR has it's flaws, particularly regarding commons, that is still a nice increase in price for this set over three years.
My experience tells me that the "true market value" for the PSA 7 is a little less than SMR, for the PSA 8 is a little more because of the high price of some low pops, and a whole lot more for the PSA 9. I haven't seen a PSA 9 common go for less than the $90 listed in SMR in years. And as everyone knows, some of the PSA 9's go for 10 to 20X book.
