crooked buffalo

Hi everyone, just got my new buffalo nickle in (1938-D Ms-66) and it looked funny at first. once I got it in the light i found out it is 90 degrees turned to the side. It is new PCGS holder , i remember reading that pcgs will take it and turn it around. Can anyone shed some light on this? I bought it on ebay and did not send it in myself.

BTW, when did they change the bottom under the buffalo form the hill to the flat surface.

Thanks
Ken

Try tapping one of the bottom corners of the slab on something semi-soft like a pad of notebook paper. Tapping one corner will make the
coin rotate clockwise & tapping the other corner will rotate it the other way.

They changed the mound/plain for the buffalo in 1913. It's referred to as 1913 Type 1 and 1913 Type 2.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

  • ok tried that and it did not budge. tried both corners then the top as well. no go oh well.

Sometimes you have to tap it pretty firmly.
