@" in such a way that they looked like a pair of eyeballs - a la Schulz's Charlie Brown & co.

@" don't really look much like eyeballs, and the effect is lost.

It's because they're all from Las Vegas and are used to seeing bright neon advertising hype.

When I see listings that way, I expect a lot less than what's advertised, and then usually move on.

  • Because eBay lets you use up to 55 characters in an auction title, and some people feel it necessary to use all 55 even if it means filling it with garbage.

  • I was thinking there was something about it that made certain searches hit the auction that normally wouldn't....Oh well, glad I haven't been missing out there....

Exactly. If you have to ask me to L@@K, then it isn't worth L@@KING at.

for the same reason i got sucked into reading this thread-it works!

  • I like the auctions that have titles like this "1987 Fleer Nolan Ryan PSA 8 not 10 (1 of 3)". There are several of these right now for Nolan Ryan cards. Its kind of irratating to get these crap listings when you are searching for "ryan PSA 10".

Whew!, just had to vent there.

Collecting Nolan Ryan cards (68-93) in PSA 9 or better.

  • Since we are on the subject of the things in an ebay description that annoy a person, I have decided to lay out my personal UN-favorite.....

Lines like this - "Book value in Nr-Mt condition is $700!!" when the card looks like it has been wadded into a ball and then smoothed out to get a scan....

IT HAS NO USEFULLNESS!! (Of course, there will folks who disagree..that is the nature of this place) It is kind of like advertising a wrecked '72 Pinto by saying "If it were '67 Corvette, it would be worth $75,000!!"

I'm not even sure that this opinion is worth two cents, but, I feel better....

"L@@K" usually means that the card is advertised as a PSA 8 but is really an 8 OC or raw. Or it may be a straight PSA 8 that is OC.

But I always end up L@@King, so it works for bidders like me at least.

    LQQK and WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BOOKS AT 1000 (when it is a vg card value 10 bucks
and PSA 8 +++++++ kill me

    edited to say:

the one that i really love is "what the card would be if it was a PSA"
    Good for you.
  • Everyone's PSA cards are ALWAYS under-graded. Just once I'd like to see something like it's a PSA 7, but it should be a 6 image

Equally worse is when people who sell serial numbered cards and label it as a "one-of-one" when it's not. Some of the SP cuts card auctions are notorious for this. It's his jersey number, it's the first one, it's the last one, or it's a prime number. Okay I made the last one up, but you get my point.

It only works if you bid, just looking adds nothing to the sellers pocket.

I hate when I do a PSA search for a set or player that I'm interested in, and a slew of lots come up , with the "Joe Blow PRO-8 equals PSA-8" and so on. Some sellers spam PSA, SGC & GAI in the same auction, letting us know that their raw card can be graded, how thoughtful, I just click it off...jay
  • My personal favorite. When the title states 1971 Aaron PSA 8, and when you go to the description it is a raw card and the buyer says that if this one gets graded it will definitely be an 8. If the card is a lock 8 the person would send it in and make a ton more money - as long as nobody snipes the card!

  • or i believe you mean like this. whats worse is almost every psa card he has was a 1 of 1 last time he checked.

1/1!!!! (IF YOU DON'T COUNT THE OTHER ONES)

CADDY - I just checked the pop report on that link of the Skybox Jordan PSA-10 that the seller states is 1/1
There are actually 333 PSA-10's in the pop report, almost half of the 632 cards submitted came back a 10, that 1/1 crap is sure bull!...jay
  • yea JAY, i figured there was an enormous amount of those graded 10. there are like two or three more up at the same time this auction is running! i am looking to get one in a psa9 for pretty cheap, but can't find one, they are all 10s! if you go to his other auctions, like everyone of them are bgs or psa 1 of 1s (and if not, they are still extremely rare!!).
  • The "SONY ERICSSON Z600 Stripes Style Up Cover" he is selling must not be a 1/1.
