    Well, it's hard to say, but it definitely looks like the real thing. I have been looking for a 1792 half disme for over a year. I am 99% certain (from the image) that this is genuine, but I am also very certain that it is holed/plugged and re-tooled. Take a look at the forehead area and the corresponding detail near ISME on the reverse. Looks like an A. Stockton job. Pretty good work.

    Regarding the value, this guy is on crack. I have turned down similar examples for $25,000. The coin grades EF details, NET Fine.

    I don't understand why such a rare and desirable coin (if it's real) is in a "numistrust" slab holder. IF I had the funds, and IF I wanted to buy it, I'd want it in a pcgs, ngc, or anacs holder. image

    I don't buy the explanation foir it being graded by NTC. If I had this coin and it could be graded by any of the top 3, I'd do the switcheroo asap. I have to think that this coin has some problem not visible in the scans provided.

    It not being in a trustworthy grading service slab raises a red flag saying "Do not buy me".
