Went to the Swapmeet and passed on a brown XF, appeared to be uncleaned 1909-S Lincoln for $40. Mintmark was the real thing, to my untrained eye.

Did I goof?

I did. I saw no signs of cleaning or tampering with the mintmark. Of course, I also looked for a V.D.B.

2 Dogs, maybe it was an S over Horizontal S, they are worth more, that happened to me once, sent it in for grading and it came back that way, maybe you should get his address and knock on his door tomorrow morning--------------BigE
